Baker Mayfield would love playing for Saints, learning from Drew Brees

Learning from a future Hall of Famer and playing for a creative offensive coordinator with a long track record of success would be a dream scenario for any rookie quarterback.

Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield is no exception, and he knows it.

With Drew Brees and Sean Payton having such a situation, Mayfield acknowledged the New Orleans Saints would be a fantastic landing spot for him in the 2018 NFL draft (via Josh Katzenstein, New Orleans Times-Picayune):

I would love that. To be able to learn under (Brees) for however long he plays, I’d love that (and) to get a chance to be in New Orleans, a good franchise.

I love Sean Payton. I love what they’re about, so that would be a great spot for me.

Like Brees, Mayfield is shorter than your prototypical NFL quarterback, but has made up for his lack of size in just about every other way. A smart, mechanically sound passer with more than enough arm strength to make every throw, Mayfield would be a perfect fit as the eventual successor to the Canton-bound Brees.
