Packers 53-man roster projection: Post-offseason workout program edition

The offseason workout program is over for the Green Bay Packers.

Here’s a post-minicamp attempt at predicting the Green Bay Packers’ 53-man roster to start the 2019 NFL season:

QB (2): Aaron Rodgers, DeShone Kizer

Neither Kizer nor Tim Boyle stood out during the offseason. The Packers have more invested in Kizer, but who knows who will emerge at camp.

RB (4): Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Dexter Williams, Dan Vitale

Cutting Kapri Bibbs should all but lock in the Packers’ top three backs. Vitale’s versatility could be an asset in Matt LaFleur’s offense.

WR (7): Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown, Jake Kumerow, J’Mon Moore, Trevor Davis

Seven receivers is usually one too many, but Kumerow is reliable, Moore is talented and Davis is valuable on special teams.

TE (4): Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan, Jace Sternberger

Unless Lewis dramatically regresses in camp or Evan Baylis or Pharoah McKever impresses, these will be the four tight ends.

OL (9): David Bakhtiari, Corey Linsley, Bryan Bulaga, Billy Turner, Lane Taylor, Elgton Jenkins, Jason Spriggs, Alex Light, Lucas Patrick

Five likely starters and a balanced group of backups. The competition will be fierce for backup spots on the inside.

DL (6): Kenny Clark, Mike Daniels, Dean Lowry, Montravius Adams, Tyler Lancaster, Kingsley Keke

Fadol Brown could be a tough cut, but this is a deep and talented group and the anchor of Mike Pettine’s defense.

OLB (5): Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, Kyler Fackrell,  Reggie Gilbert

Gilbert will have to earn it, but he’s probably too valuable as a backup rusher and special teams player to cut, and Pettine trusts him. Gilbert and Kendall Donnerson could be competing for one spot.

LB (3): Blake Martinez, Oren Burks, James Crawford

It’s a thin group after Martinez, but Burks ran with the first-team defense all spring and could be on the verge of a second-year jump, and Raven Greene is playing some linebacker. Stash Ty Summers on the practice squad?

CB (6): Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Tramon Williams, Josh Jackson, Tony Brown, Ka’dar Hollman

If Hollman emerges as a viable player, the Packers could go into 2019 with at least six capable cornerbacks.

S (4): Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Raven Greene, Natrell Jamerson

The Josh Jones situation could easily end in a breakup at some point during camp, leaving a roster spot open for Jamerson, who is being cross-trained as a safety and nickel corner.

Specialists (3): Mason Crosby, JK Scott, Hunter Bradley

Crosby will have to hold off Sam Ficken for the job, but he’s the heavy favorite.
