SXSW 2020

The Domains of Identity

Description:

What are all the different contexts in which you are asked to share your personal data? It happens every day, often multiple times.. I wrote a book when I was at UT in the Master of Science and Identity Management program to help bring clarity to the subject of "identity" that turns up everywhere. There are 16 Domains of Identity, In each, our personal data is collected, processed, stored and analyzed by multiple entities, usually without our knowledge or explicit consent.. I'm excited to share this work because it sheds light on a whole set of conversations about what personal data is, how it is collected and how we as the source and subject of the data should be protected.
