Chargers RB Melvin Gordon says sore knee is fine

COSTA MESA, Calif. -- After missing most of the second half Sunday with a sore knee, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said his workhorse running back, Melvin Gordon, should be fine and is on target to play against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.

“He’s sore,” Lynn said. “He was sore last week. We’ll monitor him this week, but I’m sure he’ll be fine.”

Gordon’s sore knee is the same left knee he had microfracture surgery on during the offseason in 2016 after his rookie year.

Gordon also missed the final three games last season due to a hip strain and a sprained left knee. However, Gordon said after Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs that he landed awkwardly and is fine.

“I played through a lot and been through a lot with my knee,” Gordon said. “I’m good.”

Before the injury, Gordon was having his best day this season with 78 yards on 15 carries, including an 11-yard touchdown in the first half.

However, Gordon was limited to just two carries for a 1 yard in the second half.

On the season, Gordon has 146 yards on 44 carries and three total touchdowns, for an average of 3.3 yards per carry.
